One of the many downsides to this is just as they are getting into "summer mode" we have to go right back into "school mode!" They have been going to day camps most of the summer but after being out of town the last two weeks they have gotten used to lazy mornings and not having to rush out the door.
My oldest loves to take his time in the mornings getting ready-probably one of the reasons he gets up early like his daddy! My daughter loves to sleep in!
After a mini-battle this morning that consisted of my having to drag my 7 year old off the couch, I told them I was going to make routine charts for them and until they had completed all the items on the list they couldn't start playing! Hopefully we can give this a go the last two days of this week and it will help them out next week!
I originally came across these cute charts here. I love that you can make your own in a simple computer program! I used PowerPoint for mine and it was simple to switch out a couple of items and colors for each my son and daughter.
Let's hope this helps make mornings a little more sane this school year!
Check back tomorrow when I show you how to make this awesome back to school gift for your child's classroom!
