Newest project!

I'm so excited about my newest Craigslist treasure that I picked up yesterday morning!

I've been on the hunt for an occasional table or sideboard to put in our eat in kitchen.  I was really wanting something like this...

But since we have our gigantic French Provincial table in there in reality a piece like this just might be too big.  Sigh...maybe I'll find one for my dining room makeover.

So on my early am Craigslist search I came across this cute table and consulted my friend Tanya. (As I do before I make a Craigslist purchase!)

And here she is!

I apologize for the iPhone photo with the flash.  I will take better photos when I start to refinish it.

This table is perfect for the space I am thinking of putting it-which is right behind our sectional to deter 3 little munchkins from scaling the back of the couch. Or course I'd have to limit what I put on top so it doesn't get knocked over!

It is 54" wide, 30" high and 16" deep.
I'd love to find some vintage wire baskets for the bottom too!

There is a lot of detailing on the piece which scares me to even THINK of having to sand this thing down so I may be doing a chalk paint (or a make your own version) finish.

I can't decide what color though!

Do I do the bottom and antique white and the top a dark walnut stain like my table?

Do I do the whole thing antique white?

Do I paint it a fun color like this sideboard and then have to put it in my dining room which is undergoing it's own makeover?

All of our furniture is a dark wood and I'd love to inject some more color!

Help!
I'd love some suggestions!

  1. I'd leave the top wood and paint the base in antique white. If that doesn't work, paint it turqoise!!! :)
