12 days of Christmas Treats {Day 4}-yummy gift for teachers!

This year for my kids teachers I wanted to do something fun for them that they hopefully hadn't received before.

I came across this brilliant idea on Pinterest!  And I new that was it!

Who wouldn't love a make your own sundae kit that includes all the toppings?

I made some homemade chocolate fudge sauce using the recipe from the original post.

Easy Chocolate Sauce
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 3 tablespoon of butter
  • 3 tablespoons corn syrup
  • 6 oz chocolate chips
Combine cream, butter and corn syrup in a small saucepan and heat until the butter had melted and the sauce is almost boiling.
Remove from the heat and add the chocolate, stirring until melted. Cool to lukewarm and spoon into glass jars.  Cover with a tight fitting lid and store in the fridge.
To use, remove from the fridge and let it sit out at room temperature for 1 hour prior to serving, or heat for 15 seconds in the microwave.

I am happy to report it was delish!

We also included some cute Snowman Soup treat bags.  If you haven't come across these yet on Kori's blog they are the cutest!

All packaged up!

Reindeer food!

Last year I hosted a cookie exchange for some friends and some kiddos.  We had an absolute blast and I was sad that I didn't have time to do it again this year.  It is on our agenda for next year however!

One of the party favors was for Reindeer food.  I had ordered our printables from my amazingly talented friend Kim and I just loved the Vintage Rudolph set!

I asked Kim if she could put this adorable little poem for reindeer food on her fancy labels for me.

Sprinkle this reindeer food outside tonight.
The moonlight will make it sparkle bright.
As the reindeer fly and roam.
This will guide them to your home.

Kim posted them as a freebie on her website a few days later and they've been downloaded thousands of times!

Click on the photo to direct you to the link to print your own!  It's such a fun project to do with the kids!

12 days of Christmas Treats {Day 5} Christmas Cupcake Cake Pops

I think by now most of the civilized population has tried a cake pop or made a cake pop. And if you haven't you are seriously missing out!

Since I do think that I will not go into detail about how to make a cake pop since you can learn from Bakerella herself.

I do want to share with you though a little gadget that in the two times I have used it the past week it has changed the way will forever make cake pops.

Meet My Little Cupcake Pop mini-mold.  The person that came up with this is a genius.  Earlier this year I made cupcake pops for my daughter's 4th birthday.  They were fairly easy in comparison to other cake pops I've made in the past.

A week ago I discovered the My Little Cupcake Pop mini-mold and knew I had to have one.  They also have a heart, cone and round shape and Amazon sells a nice little pack of all 4.  I purchased the 4 pack and had it just in time to make 2 batches of cake pops this week!

After combining the crumbled cake and frosting I let the mixture get cold in the fridge so it wouldn't stick to the mold.  You just take a scoop, shove it in the mold and let the excess run out, wipe it off and then your shape is set!  I am horrible when it comes to making nice round cake pops so I am so excited to have this in my stash now!

12 days of Christmas Treats {Day 6} White Chocolate and Cherry cookies

Today we made one of my favorite cookies...White Chocolate and Cherry cookies.  Adapted from The Food Network

Ingredients:

1 stick butter, softened
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons milk
1/2 cup dried cherries
1 1/2 cups white chocolate chips

Directions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

In a medium bowl, with an electric mixer, cream butter and sugars together until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla and beat until just combined. Set aside.

Sift together flour, soda and salt. Add milk to the butter mixture and then add the flour mixture. Mix until just combined. Batter should be stiff.

In another bowl, combine cherries and white chocolate chips. Then add to batter, stirring only to blend. Drop by heaping tablespoons onto a greased cookie sheet 2 inches apart. Bake for approximately 11 to 13 minutes. Cool on wire rack.

The adventures of Jack Sprinkles {Day 16, 17 & 18}

Well we had some trouble around the house that led to no mischief by our little elf-Jill Sprinkles!

My youngest has had strep throat for over a week and on Friday it got worse so our energy has been focused on him. But as of Sunday morning Jack Sprinkles came back and perhaps some more mischief will begin!

Hope everyone is looking forward to a fun filled week!

12 days of Christmas treats {Day 2} Oreo Truffles

Oreo truffles are another delicious and easy holiday treat.

I decorated them with some red and green candy melts along with some fun Christmas sprinkles!

Adventures of Jack Sprinkles {Day 12 & 13}

{Day 12}

Jack Sprinkles thought it would be fun to redo our Christmas countdown chalkboard and draw a self portrait.

Maybe with the blonde hair it's one of this friends?

{Day 13}

Bad news. Jack Sprinkles came down with strep like my two little ones but the good news is that Santa sent Jack's twin sister JILL!

The kids were warned to watch out because Jill is a trouble maker!

12 days of Christmas Treats {Day 1} Christmas Pretzel Hugs

I was looking at my list of yummy treats I wanted to make for the holidays and realized it was so long! On a whim (and with some encouragement) I decided to challenge myself and do a 12 days of baking series.

Then reality gave me a slap in the face and I woke up realizing I couldn't bake 12 straight days in a row!

So I decided to do the "12 days of Christmas treats."

The first few days will be fun and classic no-bake treats perfect for toddlers and preschoolers to help out with!

First up are Holiday Pretzel Treats.

Like the directions say they are the perfect combination of salty and sweet!

Only 3 ingredients are needed.

Pretzels (is used regular tiny twists)

Hershey's hugs and/or kisses

M&M's

Preheat the oven to 170 degrees.

Lay the pretzels flat on parchment paper on a cookie sheet.

Top each pretzel with a hug or kiss.

Put in the oven for 6-7 minutes until the chocolate is soft but not quite melted.

Remove from the oven and top with an M&M.

Chill in the fridge for approximately 10 minutes.

I'm planning on collecting this weeks treats to drop off in the administration office at my daughters Montessori school on Friday so I packaged some up with a cute little tag (from The TomKat Studio of course)!

Adventures of Jack Sprinkles {Day 10 & 11} and a gingerbread house

{Day 10}

I am happy to report that my 6 year old has made it back to the nice list. Since his recent demotion to the naughty list last week he has been as good as gold at school!

Maybe that actually did the trick.

Saturday morning found Jack Sprinkles waiting in his room with another note from Santa and a magic key!

My kids are very excited about their magic key and have it all planned out where it will hang!

Jack Sprinkles brings a magic key
{Day 11}

Jack Sprinkles was forgotten about due to two little ones with strep throat all weekend so he was just hanging out on our stairs. No mischief that night.

I have figured out that not having mischief every night is also a good thing. When he does get into mischief my kids go nuts about it. It's fun to keep them guessing!

We ended our weekend by doing one of our favorite holiday traditions.
